Australia Flooding Crocodiles

Queensland Floods: Planes Grounded, Crocodile Captured

Evacuations Called Off as Floodwaters Rise

Torrential rains have caused widespread flooding in northern Australia, forcing the evacuation of an entire town and leaving others trapped on rooftops. Dramatic images have emerged of planes stuck on the runway at Cairns Airport and a 28-meter crocodile captured in floodwaters in Ingham.

Record-Breaking Deluge

The rain, the heaviest seen in the region in decades, has caused rivers to burst their banks and inundate low-lying areas. In the town of Wujal Wujals, authorities were forced to issue an evacuation order as floodwaters rose rapidly. However, the order was later called off as the situation improved slightly.

Threat from Below

As the floodwaters recede, new dangers are emerging. Crocodile sightings have been reported in flood-affected areas, prompting residents to be vigilant. Authorities have issued warnings to stay out of the water due to the risk of croc attacks.
