Does Taiwan Celebrate Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is a traditional Chinese holiday that falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. It is said to commemorate the death of a minister and poet named Qu Yuan. Accused of treason, he spent many years in exile before drowning himself in the Miluo River.

The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated with a variety of activities, including dragon boat races, eating zongzi (glutinous rice dumplings), and drinking realgar wine. Dragon boat races are held in rivers and lakes across China, and the winning team is said to bring good luck to their community. Zongzi are made from glutinous rice, meat, and vegetables, and are wrapped in bamboo leaves. Realgar wine is a traditional Chinese wine that is said to have medicinal properties.

The Dragon Boat Festival is a time for family and friends to come together and celebrate Chinese culture. It is also a time to remember the legacy of Qu Yuan and his love for his country.
