French teenager Arthur Fils became the youngest ATP winner of the year by defeating No. 7 seed Joao Sousa 7-5, 6-4 in the final of the Open Parc Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes Lyon on May 27. The 18-year-old qualifier saved all three break points he faced and broke Sousa once in each set to secure his maiden ATP title.
Fils is the first qualifier to win an ATP title since Juan Manuel Cerundolo at the Cordoba Open in February. He is also the youngest ATP winner since Carlos Alcaraz won the Rio Open in February 2022.
In the semi-finals, Fils defeated No. 3 seed Francisco Cerundolo 7-5, 7-6(2). Cerundolo had won the Cordoba Open earlier this year and was looking to reach his second ATP final.
